So yeah, April came about with exciting good news. Winning the 2015 Global Impact Competition, run in Spain thanks to Fundación Rafael del Pino and Cosentino, means that I will be attending the postgraduate program run every summer at Singularity University, in NASA's Research Park.
Since I learnt about the existence of Singularity, about two years ago, I never expected that I would be offered the opportunity of joining one of their highly coveted programs. To the best of my knowledge previous alumni were individuals with an extraordinary mix of talent and commitment to goals that extended far beyond simply cashing in. But there was more. There was technology too. Talent considerations aside, it just felt like my relationship with technology was not deep enough to land me there. Gladly those whose opinions really mattered have felt differently about it. My appreciation goes to all of them.
So, as we published here, this summer I will be busy trying to learn as much as possible about how to apply disruptive technology to Civio's project and goals (and i.ngen.io's, for that matter). It is thanks to my colleagues there --and David in particular-- that I will enjoy this fantastic opportunity. And that alone deserves a huge thank you too. Beyond that, I will strive to share the experience widely to all the extent that I can. In the mean time, apart from dealing with all the logistics and prep work, I am catching up on recommended reads such as "Abundance" (Diamandis & Kotler) or "The Singularity is Near" (Kurzweil).
