Last week I had a long chat with one of the international donors that has backed the work carried out at Civio since David and I founded the organization at the end of 2011.
At one point of the conversation I was asked about what accomplishment did I feel the proudest about. I was put on the spot, but it felt like a perfect moment to take stock in over four years of hard teamwork.
And yes, my mind went to some of the great achievements on the software tool development, journalistic content generation or targeted political activism fronts. But above all that, what I was able to articulate related to building a team and enabling it to work and grow – that is to say, to financial sustainability.
I guess my background in entrepreneurship and finance generates a strong bias. I have seen first hand, and from a relative distance too, a good many great ideas and budding projects wrecked through lack of funding to look in a different direction.
But beyond this very personal bias, if you wan to read up a detailed account of what was 2015 like at Civio do check out our latest Management Report (in English and Spanish).
And after that, if you feel you want to be one of the couple of hundred superheroes who make our work possible, please make a difference and click in Donate!
